HOW TO FIND YOUR NAIL MEASUREMENTS

Choosing the perfect size for your nails is an essential step in ensuring impeccable, comfortable results, whether for press-on nails or customized extensions. By measuring your nails correctly, you can avoid the inconveniences associated with inappropriate sizes, such as nails that slip, pinch or don’t hold properly.

If you’re wondering “how do I measure the size of my nails?”, don’t worry, we’ve got it covered! Measuring your nails is simple, quick and easy to do at home. Let’s find your perfect size together!

There are several measurement methods, so you are free to choose the one that suits you best :

Measuring with Tape

What you will need: tape, pen or marker, paper, ruler

The steps to measure with a tape :

  1. Place a piece of tape horizontally across your nail bed.
  2. Press the tape firmly, smoothing out any bubbles on both sides.
  3. Mark the widest point of each side with a pen/marker.
  4. Carefully remove the tape and stick it onto a piece of paper.
  5. Measure the width between the marks with a ruler (in millimetres)

This method will give you precise measurements for a perfect fit. We advise you to measure both hands, as sizes may vary from one hand to the other.

Format your measurements in this order
Right or left: Thumb, index, middle, ring, pink finger
RIGHT – 16, 13, 14, 13, 9 mm
LEFT – 16, 13, 14, 12, 8 mm

Using a Coin to Measure Your Nails

If you’re still not sure of your measurements with the tape, don’t worry! You can always use a coin to double-check. It’s a great way to be sure of your nail size.

What you will need: a 1€ coin, your phone (to take a picture)

The steps to measure with a coin :

  1. Place the coin on a flat surface like a table.
  2. Place your hand next to the coin.
  3. Take a clear photo of your hand and the coin, making sure both hands and thumbs are photographed separately.

Send these photos to your nail artist (me), who will use them as a reference to determine nail size.

You’ll be able to provide your own measurements, whether using the tape method or photos of your hand next to a coin.

Refer to a template

You can also compare your measurements to the size guide below in this way :

  • Compare your measurements with the size guide and choose the size that fits most of your fingers.
  • If you’re between sizes, choose the one that’s slightly larger than the one that’s too small. For example, if size S fits all your fingers except your thumb, which is larger than the cap, choose size M, which will fit perfectly.

Bear in mind that the figures have been measured manually, so a difference of around 1 mm is quite normal.

If they correspond to a standard size, choose this option. Otherwise, use the methods described above for a custom size.

It’s always a good idea to look wider with your measurements, as you can always file the edges of the capsules for a better fit if necessary. On the other hand, if the false nails are too short, we won’t be able to enlarge them…
